POSITION SUMMARY
The Director of Cancer Services oversees operations throughout the entire cancer services line, including Hematology/Oncology Clinic, Outpatient Infusion (including Outpatient Infusion Pharmacy) and Cancer Resources. Director is responsible for providing visionary leadership to maximize the effectiveness of and prove accountability for: patient care, care standards, staff development, interdisciplinary collaboration as well as management of fiscal and human resources of the service line. Provides day-to-day oversight of management and staff to ensure the utmost care and safety of our patients is delivered. Maintains excellent public relations by interacting with patients, visitors, physicians and other staff members in a friendly and professional manner. This position ensures compliance with local, state and federal requirements and The Joint Commission (TJC) & American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (COC) standards as they apply to the service line. Ensures the safe handling of chemotherapy medications and infectious material(s), ensuring patient and staff safety at all times. Ensures the seamless transition of patients across the care continuum, identifies care gaps and creates solutions to provide the highest quality of care for our patients. The Director is responsible to lead and ensure a culture of respect, LEAN, and participative management, guided by Marshall Medical Center’s mission.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field with 5 years’ experience or current California Registered Nursing (RN) license with 7 years’ experience required.
- Must meet all DMV requirements as listed below.
Strongly preferred:
- Master’s degree or higher in related field
Knowledge:
Required:
- Excellent understanding of medical office, patient and information flow
- Knowledge of Joint Commission, The American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer (COC), National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN), American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), and Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) standards
- Knowledge of scope of practice for Medical Assistants, LVNs, RNs, Physician Assistants, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and Nurse Practitioners
- Extensive understanding of clinical relationship of back office to medical records, reception, referral/authorization, requirements and efficiencies
- Financial clinical management experience of clinical departments
Strongly preferred:
- Two years of oncology experience
- 3-5 years of prior management experience
- Extensive previous experience in the administration of chemotherapy

- Note: Requires employees to drive at least once per pay period. Candidates must possess and supply proof of: a current CA Driver’s License, a clean DMV printout and Auto Insurance coverage with a minimum of $50,000 per person/$100,000 per occurrence (or a combined single limit of $100,000) and property damage coverage in an amount not less than $50,000 per occurrence.
