The Gallery Director/Facilities Coordinator is responsible for managing the gallery and exhibition program for the School of Art & Design (SOAD), the SOAD Art Lease program, renting Visual Arts Center (VAC) facilities to campus and external units, and planning and executing summer programming and community-centered events.
The Gallery Director/Facilities Coordinator must possess excellent communication, time management, task prioritization, organizational, and interpersonal skills. This position interacts professionally with students, staff, faculty, professional artists, the press/media, and public constituencies, and must be a strong team player.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all gallery operations in the Charles W. and Norma C. Carroll, the Birke, and Pneumatic galleries, including exhibition planning, artist contracts, jurors/selection committees, shipping/receiving artwork, and exhibition proposals.
- Installation and de-installation of exhibitions, including faculty, student, invited artist, and summer shows, as well as Foundations Review and Capstone presentations.
- Produce and/or review gallery press releases, calendars, publications, social media, and media interviews and appearances.
- Support artist talks and lectures (e.g., AV setup, video streaming).
- Advise and mentor students preparing exhibitions in the Pneumatic gallery and Capstone exhibitions.
- Coordinate and develop community programs and educational experiences,
- Manage and develop the SOAD Art Lease program and off-campus exhibitions, including the solicitation of artwork, framing art, lessor and lessee contracts.
- Coordinate public and extracurricular events in the VAC.
- Organize gallery and inventory supplies and equipment, paint/touch up galleries.
- Oversee rental of VAC facilities to campus and external groups.
- Other duties as assigned by SOAD Director.
This position reports to the SOAD Director.
Salary Range $44,918-$58,939: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, education, experience, and internal equity. Salary Type Salary Time Type Full-Time Work Location MU - Marshall University

Required Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s degree in visual arts or a related field is required.
