What are the responsibilities and job description for the Safety Coordinator - Construction position at Martell Electric, LLC?

Martell Electric LLC is part of Martell Services Group Inc. MSGI became an ESOP in February 2021. They have offices in Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Iowa and Arizona.

We are looking for a Safety Coordinator that will report to the Corporate Director of Safety and supports and trains the project personnel to execute corporate safety and health standards/procedures in compliance with Federal, State, and Local requirements

The duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.

● Plan and conduct periodic and unscheduled surveys and inspections of projects

● Conduct hazard analyses of all project operations; create weekly Hazard Analyses Report for the Director – Corporate Safety

● Develop and support a zero-injury safety culture on each project

● Coordinate the company's environmental, health, and safety program at a project level

● Provide technical support and assistance to Crew Foreman/General Foremen in developing and maintaining on-site safety

● Meet regularly with field personnel and support in the development of project-specific corrective action plans to address safety issues and concerns

● Evaluate and report on the effectiveness of safety programs

● Actively participate in Safety Committee meetings and presentations

● Enforce utilization of PPE

● Monitor and evaluate subcontractor compliance with applicable rules and regulations, and project safety requirements

● Assist in accident, incident, and near-miss investigations

● Provide regulatory compliance and audit oversight

● Provide coaching and mentoring for employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors, and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe behaviors

● Deliver safety training and new employee safety orientations

● Report all incidents in an effective and timely manner and maintain safety record-keeping for job audits

● Other duties as required and/or assigned

WHAT YOU BRING:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene or 5 years in construction safety experience within the construction industry, safety certification preferred
  • Results-oriented mindset and the ability to work independently
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to influence behaviors
  • Ability to anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, with an adaptable and flexible style in working with all types of individuals
  • Capability to walk a job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding, lift objects at least 50 lbs.

● Ability to use a computer including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)

● Flexibility and willingness to accept changes in priorities as necessary

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year

Experience:

  • construction safety: 3 years (Required)

License/Certification:

  • Certified Safety Professional (Preferred)
