The Opportunity
The Investment Analyst supports the team in its portfolio construction, manager oversight, and monitoring responsibilities across Martello Re’s $19 billion investment portfolio.
This position offers opportunity for exposure to many aspects of insurance asset management. In particular, the Investment Analyst will support the team in: implementing and monitoring portfolio management strategies, monitoring portfolio risk parameters (e.g., duration cash flows, credit quality, etc.) in relation to asset-liability management, and regulatory/accounting guidelines. Additionally, Investment Analyst supports and participates in various projects with other groups, including Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management, and Finance.

Objectives and Responsibilities of the role:
- Support the investment team in managing the daily activity for the investment portfolio.
- Assist in the development or enhancement of reporting tools to monitor performance, portfolio allocation, positioning relative to strategic asset allocation, risk limits, earnings budget, and others.
- Monitor and track mandates with investment managers.
- Assist in analyzing and reconciling investment accounting data and analytics.
- Regular communication and collaboration with key stakeholders across the group, including Actuarial, Enterprise Risk Management, and Finance.
- Be involved in the monthly and quarterly internal and external reporting cycles, including the preparation of presentations to executive management and external parties.
- Assist in evaluating the macro-economic environment to help determine portfolio allocations and strategy.
- Tracking, evaluating, and reporting developments in financial markets.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, mathematics, economics, or equivalent
- 1-3 years of work experience in the financial services industry; experience in and knowledge of insurance asset management is a plus
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Good understanding of capital markets
- Proficient with Bloomberg and Microsoft Office software suite
- Strong work ethic with high standards for performance
- Ability to take initiative
- Pursuit of Chartered Financial Analyst (“CFA”) professional designation preferred.
Compensation and Location
Competitive salary, bonus and benefits package commensurate with experience. This is a Charlotte, NC. based position and those currently not residing in Charlotte, NC. or unable to relocate will not be considered.
