Primary Functions: The Associate Financial Advisor is an advisor support position that provides technical support for all Financial Advisors. Responsibilities include data gathering and analysis, development of financial planning and portfolio reporting, implementation, and portfolio management support, developing and maintaining client relationships while actively promoting financial solutions for individual and institutional clients. The Associate Financial Advisor may participate in client meetings, but not in an advice delivering capacity. In addition, this position has limited decision-making authority on client matters. Associate Financial Advisors may also participate in developing investment and financial planning strategies as part of the firms Investment Committee and Administrative Committees. The Associate Financial Advisor will help grow the practice by supporting Financial Advisors pursue business development opportunities and increase client communication.
Principle Activities
- Client Relationship Management, including ongoing and regular client contact and communications.
- Client Service, including client meeting preparation, portfolio changes and reviews, information data gathering, implementation of recommendations, account service and maintenance, reporting and risk management.
- Client asset management support, including coordination of financial planning and wealth management analysis.
- Attend client and team meetings, as required; special projects and research, as appropriate; backup for client solutions and operations, as needed.
- Sit on Investment Committee and Administrative committee.
- Support and help facilitate Audit and Compliance infrastructure.
- Assist in general client service needs & requests for clients.
- Be conversant with applicable core record keeping systems.
- Manage and facilitate implemented financial software and planning platforms.
- Assist with planning and preparation of seminars, training, and marketing presentation materials.
- Follow-up on client documentation and transition validation (as needed).
- Provide referrals to other areas of the bank.
- Generate new business through branch educational meetings and referral networks.
- Generate new business based on individual and department goals.
Staff Activities
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality of customer transactions and account information.
- Maintain knowledge of services in area of responsibility.
- Maintain required level of quality and quantity of work.
- Observe security procedures.
- Work within procedural limits of position.
- Promote MVIA and MV Banks image and growth.
- Any other duties or projects assigned by supervisor.

- Education: Bachelors degree or equivalent training and experience.
- Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), experience with financial planning, Salesforce (CRM), and Core management systems a plus.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and listening skills.
- Detail-oriented focus and a professional demeanor.
- Minimum time-in-position expectation of 2 years
- This position qualifies for the CFP Board Apprenticeship Pathway to certification (i.e. 2 years of experience)
Physical & Environmental Factors
- Work is sedentary requiring only minimum physical demands with extended periods of sitting.
- Work Conditions: Work is normally performed in an office environment with frequent travel to customer locations.
