Position Summary

Under Hospice supervision, provides massage therapy services for infant to geriatric clients according to the established Hospice Plan of Care, in their home or at the IFHH. Ensures all actions are taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

Position Responsibilities
-
Unit Specific Position Responsibilities- Cleans, maintains, prepares and adjusts massage therapy equipment.
- Provides therapeutic massage to Hospice patients according to needs identified in the Plan of Care.
- Maintains accurate, confidential patient health records.
- Assists with patient scheduling.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):
-
Graduate from a school of Massage Therapy and possession of licensure as a massage therapist issued by the State of Iowa Department of Health.

Possession of a current valid driver’s license and must maintain eligibility for coverage under Mary Greeley Medical Center’s insurance policy.

American Heart Association BLS Certification.

Organizational Requirements:

De-escalation training prior to performing direct patient care or within 90 days of hire

All clinical night staff routinely working between the hours of 2300-0700 that work in Acute Rehab, Med Tele, Med Surg, Birthways, PEDS, NICU, and Oncology AND all clinical staff that work in Nursing Support Team, Behavioral Health, ED, ICCU, and House Managers will be required to take the combative patient response team training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment. Individuals less than 18 years old are excluded.

Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

Six months of massage experience.

Knowledge and understanding of hospice concepts.

Ability to demonstrate competence and maintain current knowledge in providing massage therapy to neonates through geriatrics.
