Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Comprehensive Evaluations: Conduct thorough assessments to understand each patient's physical capabilities, limitations, and specific needs.
- Customized Treatment Plans: Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, focusing on functional goals and improving quality of life.
- Neurological Rehabilitation: Implement therapy techniques tailored to neurological conditions, including motor function improvement and balance training.
- Adaptive Techniques: Utilize adaptive methods and equipment to assist patients in performing daily activities and enhancing mobility.
- Communication Strategies: Adapt communication methods to meet the needs of patients with various levels of intellectual disabilities, using clear, simple language and visual aids as necessary.
- Motivational Support: Employ motivational techniques to engage patients in their therapy, fostering a supportive and encouraging environment.
- Multidisciplinary Teamwork: Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including occupational therapists, speech therapists, and medical doctors, to ensure comprehensive care.
- Family and Caregiver Involvement: Educate and involve family members or caregivers in the therapeutic process to support patients' progress outside of clinical sessions.
- Accurate Records: Maintain detailed and accurate documentation of patient progress, treatment plans, and outcomes.
- Regular Updates: Provide regular updates to the interdisciplinary team and adjust treatment plans as needed based on patient progress.
- Ongoing Education: Stay current with best practices and advancements in neurological and intellectual disability therapy to ensure effective treatment and patient outcomes.
- 1:1 Patient Sessions: Each therapist will have the opportunity to work one-on-one with patients, providing personalized and focused care.
- Patient Load: The position involves seeing approx 7 patients per day, allowing for thorough and effective treatment sessions.
- Standard 40-Hour Work Week: Our therapists clock in for a standard 40-hour work week, ensuring a balanced work-life schedule. Start/end are flexible but often determined by Mary Lee Foundation client schedule along with the schedule of external clients.
- Ample Time for Documentation: We provide sufficient time during the workday for therapists to complete their documentation and finish notes, unlike other clinics where staff often stay late to complete these tasks.
- Customizable Schedules: Due to the unique nature of our clinic, therapists have the autonomy to build their own schedules and adjust client appointments as needed. This flexibility allows therapists to create a work schedule that best suits their personal and professional needs.
- Flexible Start and Stop Times: Start and stop times are fluid, often determined by the Mary Lee Foundation client schedule as well as external clients, providing a dynamic and adaptable work environment.
Job Requirements And Qualifications
- A valid license to practice Physical Therapy in the state of Texas
- Ability to communicate and adapt to different patients and personalities
- A high level of professionalism and personal ethics
- A thorough knowledge of current treatment practices
- Proven work ethic and dedication to patient care
- A Medicare provider with a PTAN a plus, but not required.
