Job Title: Youth Advocate
Summary: Empowering homeless youth to learn the life-skills necessary to live independently. This includes creating a safe and supportive environment while motivating youth to explore education, employment, and housing opportunities through a Positive Youth Development model. The position includes active modeling of meal preparation and general facility maintenance/cleaning.
Job Knowledge, Skills & Requirements:
· Experience working with at-risk youth populations.
· Experience in responding to crisis situations.
· Exceptional patience and sensitivity for homeless or at-risk youth
· Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
· Experience developing healthy mentor relationships
· Experience with Positive Youth Development values
· Experience with motivational techniques
· History of positive teamwork and participation in group planning
· Provide positive reinforcement, emotionally and physically, when maintaining program guidelines and a safe living environment
· Participate in group activities and on-site classes.
· Ability to teach and demonstrate basic life skills a must – i.e. cooking, cleaning, laundry.
· Work assigned shifts with flexibility to cover other shifts as needed. Availability every other weekend and rotating holidays.
Job Type: Part-time
Expected hours: 24 – 36 per week
