What are the responsibilities and job description for the Physical Plant Manager position at Maryknoll Sisters?
This position supervises three (3) Facilities Working Supervisors (Groundskeeping, Power Plant and Facility Internal Operations) as well as six (6) Maintenance Mechanics and an Administrative Assistant, to ensure all day-to-day operations of Facilities are operating effectively and efficiently and unit goals and objectives are met.
The Physical Plant Manager ensures that:
Service Requests from Departments in the organization and the Sister residents are filled within a reasonable time with quality work;
The grounds are kept attractive and pleasing to Maryknoll Sisters, employees and guests;
Heating, cooling and power plant operations are operating efficiently;
Mailroom, shipping and receiving operations meet the needs of departments and residents.
In keeping with Maryknoll Sisters practice to apply environmentally sound principles throughout the Center complex, the Physical Plant Manager implements sustainable practices which fall within the responsibility of the Facilities entity. Keeps accurate records of expenditures for financial reporting purposes; prepares purchase orders for material requirements. May be required to negotiate with vendors or contractors for particular conditions and facility needs. Sets and maintains standards of behavior and proficiency for all supervisors and encourages initiative, responsibility and accountability. Regularly analyzes building and grounds maintenance requirements and operational problems based on frequent assessment; Initiates timely quality control systems and preventive upkeep.
· High School Diploma or completion of Trade School.
· BA/BS degree preferred.
· Must possess a valid New York State Drivers’ License.
· Knowledge and proficiency in a multiplicity of building repair trades.
· Ability to plan, organize and direct staff.
· 3-5 years’ supervisory experience.
· 3-5 years’ experience in facility operations.
Proficient in the use of Outlook, and Word.
