Position Overview
Under minimum supervision, the Electronic Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, calibrating, repairing, and overhauling all electronic, logic, and digital equipment and electromechanical devices used for fare collection by the MTA. The technician will maintain records of work performed and perform related duties as assigned.

Position Overview
Under minimum supervision, the Electronic Technician will be responsible for troubleshooting, diagnosing, calibrating, repairing, and overhauling all electronic, logic, and digital equipment and electromechanical devices used for fare collection by the MTA. The technician will maintain records of work performed and perform related duties as assigned.
Responsibilities Include
- Preparing, performing, and completing any assigned work related to the Fare Collection System equipment across various locations associated with MTA operations.
- Setting up equipment for testing and conducting repairs, replacements, and adjustments with minimal supervision.
- Observing, identifying, and reporting unsafe or irregular conditions.
- Exercising sound judgment regarding all aspects of assigned duties
- Maintaining all records and forms in compliance with MTA regulations.
- Read and accurately interpret blueprints, instruction sheets, manuals, and wiring diagrams.
- Identify defective conditions in fare collection equipment; diagnose causes and make necessary adjustments, repairs, or replacements.
- Be proficient in using complex electrical test equipment, including ammeters, ohmmeters, and voltmeters.
- Make emergency repairs to fare collection equipment to maintain public service with minimal delay.
- Perform periodic inspections and preventive maintenance on fare collection equipment.
- Must be physically able to lift and carry up to 75 pounds
- Must be physically able to climb, stoop, and crawl to reach work.
- Explain and demonstrate procedures to others when directed by supervisory personnel.
- Perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.
