The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administration (MDOT MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.
The Maryland Department of Transportation Maryland Transit Administrator (MDOT/MTA) is currently recruiting for an Environmental Manager II. This position is responsible for monitoring programs as needed for the environmental safety aspects of MTA's comprehensive Agency Safety Plan (ASP). The selected candidate will Initiate and manage vendor/consultant contracts in the areas of hazardous and non-hazardous waste removal, waste oil removal, spill remediation, personal protective equipment, and medical monitoring. The Environmental Manager II will perform comprehensive investigations of environmental accidents/incidents to identify causes, determine facts, recommend appropriate corrective actions, and develop effective preventive measures. He/she will manage and evaluate the environmental compliance activities within the agency and mitigate impacts to the environment related to the operation and maintenance of transportation systems and facilities and achieve, maintain and document compliance with all environmental laws and regulations. The position is instrumental in planning, supervising, managing, and coordinating all environmental or socio-impact as it pertains to safety and compliance.
Experience: Nine years experience in environmental analysis, to include the development of plans, specifications, estimates and design, OR nine years experience in environmental management to include the development, implementation and monitoring of environmental compliance plans for air quality, storm water management, wastewater treatment, hazardous waste management, pollution prevention, solid waste management or multi-media operations, two years of which must include experience supervising employees, consultants or contractors in an environmental area.
Notes:
1. Possession of a Master's degree in one of the disciplines required may be substituted for one year of the required non-supervisory experience.
2. Possession of a Doctorate's degree in one of the disciplines required may be substituted for two years of the required non-supervisory experience.
3. U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
