This position plays a vital role in managing and enhancing Salesforce systems to support nonprofit organizations in achieving their missions. The successful candidate will function as the lead Salesforce administrator for multiple client accounts, overseeing and improving their NPSP implementations while addressing comprehensive CRM requirements.
This position demands strong collaboration and client interaction skills, requiring outstanding communication abilities, project management expertise, and technical proficiency. The role involves working with diverse stakeholders across multiple organizations, delivering prompt and strategic Salesforce solutions to groups with different structures and objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and enhance Salesforce platforms, including NPSP, for various nonprofit organizations
- Handle daily configuration, troubleshooting, and system maintenance across Salesforce environments
- Conduct regular meetings with nonprofit stakeholders to assess requirements, establish priorities, and deploy technical solutions
- Monitor system functionality, implement updates and releases, and assess application integrations
- Deliver data management services including contact imports, lead management, deduplication, and data validation
- Develop custom reports, dashboards, automated workflows, and system processes
- Establish and maintain user roles, profiles, permission structures, sharing protocols, and security configurations
- Document system changes, configurations, and field modifications; generate reports for internal teams and clients
- Provide training to staff and partners on Salesforce functionality and support organizational change initiatives
- Partner with development teams on donor management, grant tracking, reporting, and communication strategies
- Utilize Excel extensively for data preparation, cleansing, analysis, and reporting before Salesforce integration
The successful candidate will demonstrate comfort working with substantial datasets and interpreting complex systems while maintaining strategic thinking when encountering new challenges. This full-time role will be located at our client's Chicago headquarters - Hybrid 3 days a week
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of direct experience as a Salesforce Administrator, preferably in nonprofit environments utilizing NPSP
- Comprehensive understanding of Salesforce configuration and administrative best practices
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formula creation and data manipulation
- Demonstrated experience with Salesforce automation tools (Flows, Process Builder, etc.)
- Proven ability to manage and prioritize concurrent projects effectively
- Excellent interpersonal and written communication capabilities; skill in explaining technical concepts to non-technical audiences
- Self-motivated, inquisitive, and solution-oriented mindset
- Strong organizational skills, follow-through abilities, and capacity for independent work
- Genuine interest and knowledge of current events, particularly public policy and political developments

Preferred Qualifications
- Salesforce Administrator Certification
- Experience with Salesforce Nonprofit Cloud capabilities beyond NPSP
- Knowledge of nonprofit-sector tools commonly integrated with Salesforce (such as Classy, Zapier, Apsona, Anedot)
