Description
The McCarthy lab within the Masonic Medical Research Institute (MMRI) in Utica, NY is seeking a Research Assistant with experience in biological techniques and chemical synthesis to partake in and support a research program focused on the generation of materials for drug delivery and molecular imaging applications. These materials will be used across diseases to investigate biology and potentially identify new treatment options.
In this role you will:
· Conduct the in vitro/in vivo assessment of material efficacy.
· Synthesize compounds based upon established procedures in support of our research program.
· Validate the efficacy of materials for distribution to ongoing collaborations across the country
· Maintain laboratory equipment and organization.
Requirements
· A bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or a related discipline.
· Experience with routine molecular biology techniques, including Western Blotting and PCR.
· Familiarity with chemical synthesis and purification.
· At least one year of related laboratory experience preferred.
· Experience or familiarity in small animal handling techniques and willingness to learn.
· Excellent oral and written communication skills.
This position will be supervised by both the principal investigator and his post-doctoral fellows, and there will be opportunities for the scope of this position to expand beyond the roles listed above.
