About This Position
The Substitute Preschool Teacher is a valued member of the early education teaching team, assisting the regular teaching staff with curriculum implementation, student supervision and continuity of care for students. They are responsible for supporting the regular teaching staff with moving the students through the daily schedule and curriculum and assisting with behavior management and student supervision. Candidates for this position must possess a love of nature and teaching outdoors with children ranging in ages 3 to 6 years. Substitute teachers are expected to join the class outside, aid in their investigations and support their play. Substitute staff work closely with the fulltime teaching team to help deliver age-appropriate curriculum with hands on investigations and exploration. Substitute teachers help with most aspects of the daily routine and help maintain classroom behavior management that reflects Mass Audubon’s philosophy and policies.

Responsibilities
- Provide a physically and emotionally safe environment for young children both indoors and outdoors
- Maintain clear communication with teaching faculty team
- Responsible for emotional and physical health and safety of students
- Help create and maintain a welcoming and inclusive environment for all families, students and staff
- Maintain the physical environment by contributing to classroom housekeeping tasks as needed and storing personal belongings away from preschool program space

Compensation, Benefits and Perks
This position’s pay range is $19.85-$22.33 / hour; actual salary will reflect level of experience and qualifications relative to position requirements. This is not a benefits eligible position.
Work Schedule
This is a per diem position, with hours scheduled as needed.
Other Requirements
Employees must successfully complete a CORI and SORI Background Check and a Motor Vehicle Record (if applicable) is required.
