What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Research Fellow position at Massachusetts General Hospital?
A Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in the area of light-based antimicrobial therapy for infectious diseases is available in the Wellman Center for Photomedicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). This position will be appointed through Harvard Medical School (HMS) at the rank of postdoctoral fellow, and will have access to a range of training opportunities available via both MGH and HMS. This position is fully funded by NIH and is available for a one-year appointment with the possibility of extension.
The fellow will focus on the implementation and validation of novel light-based antimicrobial approaches and investigation of the mechanism of action. Candidates with a strong background and hands-on experience in microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, or infectious diseases (bacterial infections, fungal/mold infections, and biofilms) are highly encouraged to apply. Experience in animal models of infectious diseases is a plus.
Requirements: Doctoral degree (PhD, MD, or DVM) in microbiology, antimicrobial resistance, fungal (mold) infection, bacterial infection, biofilm or related field, excellent writing and oral presentation skills, ability to work independently and with collaborators is required. Creativity is highly desirable. The salary is commensurate with experience.
