Job Title: Trading Application Support Engineer
Duration: 18 months
Location: Plano, TX (Hybrid remote 3 days onsite)
Pay Scale: $60-65/hr W2 (Cannot subcontract or C2C)
Job Description:
Matlen Silver is actively recruiting an Application Support Engineer consultant that will support our New York City based client's front office trading production environment and provide real time trading applications support across markets. This support role requires someone who can work in a high pressure trading environment and assimilate information from multiple sources quickly. The role requires a good problem solver, and someone who can adhere to strict procedures and guidelines which include incident, service request and change management.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the support of capital markets trading systems with specific focus on in-house applications and flows to external ECNs to cover trade life-cycle, trade capture, risk management and PnL.
- First point of contact for all traders and front office personnel to resolve issues with trader tools and any business related information quality which may have fiscal impact if not resolved quickly.
- The successful candidate must have the ability to multitask and prioritize accordingly in a fast paced and demanding environment.
- Provide first level/desk facing support for users of Credit Derivatives and Cash (Bond) applications.
- Work closely with users, answering their queries and raising development requests as they are presented.
- Escalation and timely resolution of production issues, using fundamental problem management disciplines.
- Liaise between Credit applications users and technology teams to address user queries and issues.
- Perform analysis around new requirements or improvements to the current system based on analysis and feedback from key traders and Trade assistants.
- Develop and maintain documentation for reference as a knowledge base for training and incident management.
Desired Experience:
- 5 years of production support experience working in a Level 2/3 Incident, Problem, Release management support capacity.
- Hands on troubleshooting experience of UNIX/Linux OS, Relational databases (Oracle, SQL Server), and applications developed in Java or Python.
- Scripting knowledge within UNIX/Linux OS including shell, bash, ksh, Perl, or Python
- Experience with Geneos ITRS
- Autosys nice to have
- Good understanding of Municipal Bonds and Credit derivatives and the trade life cycle ( CDS, Index, Index Options).
- Strong understanding of Electronic trading, STP (straight thru processing) and Trade negotiation
- Experience with FICC Credit Trading Applications and trade life cycle management.
- Ability to deal with a high pressure Trading environment and manage oneself in an environment of high frequency business and technology changes adhering to release and change management principles.
- Experience in a large financial institution
- Business knowledge with Bonds, Credit Derivatives and FICC preferred
- Nice-to-Have Technical experience
- Experience with Perl/Python.
- Cross-platform OS/infrastructure experience
