Assistant Editor

We are a small but thriving NYC- and Amsterdam-based content marketing company specializing in food and beverage content, mainly for home cooks and busy parents who shop at a major supermarket chain. We are looking for an enthusiastic, organized candidate who will support the executive editor and other staff with all aspects of print and digital production, including research and writing, copy editing, and other related tasks. Applicants should demonstrate strong writing and organizational skills, a passion for food and cooking, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

Salary: $60,000 with healthcare benefits

Responsibilities

• Assist in brainstorming magazine and digital content
• Write engaging, informative copy in our brand voice and style 
• Assist with editing and copy editing recipes and copy of all types 
• Work in InDesign to input changes and edit in layouts 
• Assist with all aspects of print issue and digital production 
• Maintain image assets for each issue, tagging and uploading to our database 
• Lead digital production of print issues 
• Assist with copyediting, researching and fact checking  
• Additional projects and tasks as needed   

Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years food media experience (print or digital, brand work, social media, or other content) 
• 1 to 3 years editorial experience   
• Extreme attention to detail 
• Copy editing experience a plus 
• Familiarity with InDesign a plus 
• Passion for food and cooking  
• A strong writer. You create copy that is fresh, dynamic, and enticing 
• An organized multitasker. You never miss a deadline and can juggle multiple projects 
• A self-starter. You work well independently and problem solve to get the job done  
• Hungry for more and keen to learn. You are ready to jump in wherever needed, no matter the task
