Title: Billing Specialist—Billing
Location: Maury Regional Medical Group Annex - Columbia, TN
Position Shift: Full-Time (Flex after orienting)
Position Summary:
- Follows HIPAA guidelines in handling patient information as well as other federal and state regulatory mandates.
- Understands managed care authorizations and limits to coverage such as the number of visits. This in encountered often when billing for specialties.
- Daily review/research all edits assigned as a Work Item in your Cerner Workflow.
- Translate UB & 1500 claims from Cerner to nThrive and work any nThrive edits and daily review claims with a held in scrubber status.
- Ability to verify patient benefits eligibility and coverage in Cerner, Experian, and/ other payer websites to ensure accurate insurance on every claim that has been rejected in the clearinghouse or has hit an Edit Failure work item.
- Accurately able to enter information necessary for insurance claims such as patient, insurance ID, authorization, and/or provider information to correct a claim when it hits the Edit Failure work item in Cerner or accurately follow the steps to correct the Incomplete or Rejected queue in nThrive.
- Work all claim rejections and contact payers as necessary for questions on any claim that is not accepted into the Payer system per status notes from nThrive
- Interface with appropriate staff by using appropriate work items and action codes to ensures the timely process of claims.
Assist with special projects, daily participation in Department Huddles, and other duties as requested by Manager.
Credentials / Education:
- Required: One (1) Year Medical Billing, Coding or Accounting Experience
- Preferred: High School Diploma or equivalent
