Terms of Employment:

- Hourly Rate: $22.89
- Calendar: 261 days per year / Year-Round Employee
- Hours Per Day: 8 hours per day with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break
- Daily Schedule: 7:00 am - 3:30 pm
- Benefits: Eligible for medical benefits and paid leave. IMRF participation is required.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associate Degree or Technical Degree in Information Technology related field or equivalent work experience.
- Two plus years relevant experience in enterprise level system administration.
- Extensive knowledge of Microsoft and Apple operating systems, computer hardware, software, and pertinent application software.
- Certifications from Apple, Microsoft, Google and Cisco are preferred.
Responsibilities / Duties:
- Must perform all responsibilities in a professional manner consistent with district practices.
- Act for the Director of Network Technology Services in his/her absence.
- Provide leadership role to other department staff.
- Review and sign timesheets for IT personnel as necessary.
- Manage IT employee schedules as necessary.
- Provide backup support to the Technology Support positions.
- Perform data backups and disaster recovery operations.
- Maintain and administer existing district computer hardware, systems software, application software, and configurations.
- Install, configure, test and deploy computer hardware, operating system software, and application software.
- Diagnose hardware and software problems, and replace defective components.
- Analyze equipment performance records to determine the need for repair or replacement.
- Perform routine network startup and shutdown procedures.
- Plan, coordinate, and implement network security measures to protect data, software, and hardware.
- Recommend changes to improve systems and network configurations, and determine hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
- Maintain and inventory parts for emergency repairs.
- User Administration
- Create and manage student, staff and miscellaneous user and group accounts.
- MDM (Mobile Device Management)
- Utilize MDM applications such as JAMF to capture, deploy and manage mobile and desktop devices.
- Network Administration
- Switches, routers, converters - Ensure the stable operation of the district computer network. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all network hardware, software, and communications links. Analyze and resolve end-user hardware and software computer problems in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Server Administration
- RAID configuration, BIOS, server utility software - Install, administer, and optimize servers and related components to achieve high performance of the various business applications supported by tuning the servers as necessary. This includes ensuring the availability of client / server applications, configuring all new implementations, and developing processes, and procedures for ongoing management of the server environment.
- Apple macOS and Microsoft Windows Server Operating System - Optimize servers and related components to achieve high availability and performance of the various applications supported. This included designing, installing, configuring, administering, and fine-tuning operating systems and components across the organization in a timely and efficient manner.
- Terminal Services Administration
- Microsoft Terminal Services, RDP, thin client management - Supervise and operate the district’s Microsoft Terminal Services systems, networks, and applications. This includes installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintenance.
- Security Administration
- Security Cameras, card readers, alarm systems - Ensure the secure operation of the in-house digital security system. This includes installing, configuring, patching, upgrading, and maintaining of servers, digital video recorders, cameras, and card readers. User operation tasks include monitoring cameras, programming card access, exporting video and interface with outside law enforcement.
- Help Desk
- Provide user support for Apple macOS/iOS and Microsoft Windows operating systems and a variety of applications including Google Apps, Microsoft Office and general hardware support (workstations, printers, etc.)
- Hardware Repair
- Servers, PC’s, printers - Support and maintain in-house computer systems, desktops, and peripherals. This includes installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal performance.
- Telecommunications Administration
- Telephones, voicemail, E911 - Support the district telecommunications infrastructure which includes installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimizing all telephone systems and services, voicemail, Analog/VoIP communication systems, and call accounting.
- Audio Visual Administration
- TV’s, DVD Players, video distribution equipment and marquee signs - Support and maintain in-house audio-visual equipment and on-print media assets (Marquee Signs). This includes operating, maintaining, distributing, installing, configuring, repairing, and upgrading various electronic products while ensuring their optimal performance. Troubleshoot problem areas in a timely and accurate fashion, and provide end-user training and assistance where required.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods of time.
- Ability to move freely and perform duties in numerous locations throughout the day (involving the ability to stoop, bend, and reach as needed).
- Ability to occasionally move, lift, carry, pull, or push heavy objects or materials (up to 50 pounds unassisted).
- Exposure to noise and activity of a school setting.
