McLaren Auction Services is seeking an enthusiastic, detail-oriented Auction House Bookkeeper with a love of antiques who will be responsible for preparing & managing our auctions.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Maintain accurate financial records for all auction transactions, including managing invoices, receipts, payouts, and reconciliations for consignors, buyers, and vendors
  • Reconcile auction proceeds with internal inventory and sales systems (Auction Flex, Dropbox, Excel) and resolve any post-auction discrepancies
  • Track and follow up on payments, outstanding balances, and fees
  • Manage payroll, write checks, make bank deposits, and reconcile bank and Visa accounts
  • Prepare and file tax documents, including monthly tax deposits, quarterly reports, and CAT tax filings
  • Organize and maintain financial records, including contracts, settlements, and insurance renewals; assist with audits as needed
  • Support auction events by preparing the cash box, checking in/out customers, and handling post-auction reconciliation
  • Assist with general office tasks such as answering phones, emails, and customer inquiries
  • Provide occasional personal assistance and bookkeeping support to the company owner

YOUR CREDENTIALS

REQUIRED

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Utilization of research tools, internet searches, etc. as needed to complete tasks
  • A self-starter who can work independently while maintaining a collaborative team spirit.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle high-value property responsibly and respectfully
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite including Outlook and Excel, Quickbooks & Auction software
  • Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience
  • A sense of humor and a love of antiques!

PART TIME position

  • 1-3 days a week depending on responsibility load each week
  • Business hours are typically Monday through Friday 9am-4pm. No expectation to stay late.
  • Auction Nights once every four weeks on Wednesday & Thursday from 4pm-11pm, as needed

Pay: From $20.00 per hour, depending on experience

Job Type: Part-Time
