Job Summary
The Mechanical Designer is responsible for creating product drawings, writing specifications and general drafting using Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools. They will interface with customers, vendors, and all levels of the organization regarding drawings and specifications.
Job Functions
- Create models and implement design improvements, design concepts and layouts. Use mechanical design tools and experience to solve product and application issues.
- Generate new or revise existing drawings and specifications for electric motors, components, tools, jigs, fixtures, and equipment layout.
- Calculates material requirements, compiles material lists, and maintains specification files.
- Troubleshoot problems that arise in production.
- Interprets drawings and specifications using precision measuring instruments
- Process Engineering Change Requests in a timely and accurate manner
Qualifications
- Technical degree and professional experience in Mechanical Design and Drafting.
- Able to use small hand tools and measuring devices
- Team player with strong project management skills and take initiative
- Ability to problem solve, use scientific principles and creativity to troubleshoot problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
