Duties:
- Utilize medical billing systems to prepare and submit claims to payers, ensuring timely and accurate payment for medical services.
- Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding and billing.
- Apply in-depth knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding principles to assign ICD-10 codes for patient diagnoses.
- Conduct thorough research to resolve billing discrepancies and optimize billing processes.
- Manage medical collections by communicating with patients and insurance providers to resolve outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of billing activities, patient communications, and billing outcomes.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure that all billing information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Stay current with changes in medical billing regulations and coding guidelines to ensure compliance and minimize risk.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in medical billing or a related field preferred.
- Experience with medical collection procedures and insurance reimbursement processes.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and practice management systems.
- Spending time at the front desk and assisting with scheduling patients.
