The Sr. Clinical Dietitian (RD/LD) position is responsible for providing outpatient nutrition care in the GI/Colorectal clinic at the MD Anderson Cancer Center main campus in the Texas Medical Center.  The Sr. RD/LD must be proficient in a wide range of clinical nutrition assessment and nutrition education for adults and children.  Cross coverage in the inpatient hospital services and other outpatient clinics may be required depending on staffing.

This position will work Monday-Friday, 8:00am-4:30pm, working three days per week onsite and two days per week remote.

The Clinical Nutrition department at MD Anderson consists of registered dietitians that provide comprehensive nutrition care for our patients. Registered Dietitians (RDs) are experts in nutrition with extensive training, and our dietitians work with MD Anderson's medical teams to pinpoint opportunities for nutrition intervention or support.

Our services include education, assessment, and counseling in:
- Cancer prevention;
- Nutrition intervention prior to, during, and after treatment;
- Management of treatment side effects;
- Specialized diets; and
- Management of specialized feeding regimens like tube feeds and IV parenteral nutrition.

Specific Responsibilities include:
Provides quality nutrition care in relation to the patient’s diagnosis, treatment, age group, nutrition status, and other needs in both an acute care environment, and/or within the clinics as appropriate.  Provides a comprehensive assessment of nutritional status for medically complex patients by analysis of subjective data, physical assessment, consulting with other members of the care team and information retrieved from the electronic medical record. Determines patient’s nutrient needs and develops a comprehensive plan of care by using department-established guidelines. Work in partnership with interdisciplinary team and participates in patient care rounds by recommending, implementing, and monitoring of nutrition interventions. Documents care in the medical record using appropriate forms and/or formats within established guidelines. Provides initial and ongoing or follow-up care according to established timeframes and reassessment criteria. Identifies and provides for patient and family education needs, assesses barriers to learning, provides appropriate instructions utilizing appropriate modalities, assesses patient understanding and documents interventions per policy.

EDUCATION:
Required:  Bachelor's degree and completion of an Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND) approved dietetic internship or its equivalent.

Preferred:  Master’s degree in directly related field would be a plus.

EXPERIENCE:
Required:  Four years of clinical dietitian experience.  With preferred degree or advanced certification, two years of required experience.

LICENSE/CERTIFICATION:
Required:  Current Registered Dietitian (RD) and current Licensed Dietitian (LD).

This position may be responsible for maintaining the security and integrity of critical infrastructure, as defined in Section 113.001(2) of the Texas Business and Commerce Code and therefore may require routine reviews and screening. The ability to satisfy and maintain all requirements necessary to ensure the continued security and integrity of such infrastructure is a condition of hire and continued employment.
