What are the responsibilities and job description for the Research Scientist - Pathology position at MD Anderson?
The primary purpose of the Research Scientist is to assist the Principal Investigator in coordinating, designing and carrying out research projects, especially those related to animal models of pancreatic cancer.
Experiment and Testing Development and maintenance of specific knock-down and transgene animals both germ line and organ specific with forerunner genes as well as studies with biologic effects in vivo.
Conducting high complexity experiments in the area of molecular tumor biology of cancer and performing functional studies of biological effects of forerunner genes involved in the process of carcinogenesis. These studies will involve in vitro tissue culture-base experiments, animal studies, and human tissue testing.
Establishment and monitoring of animal xenograft models to study the biologic effects of forerunner genes in vivo.
Performance and analysis of genomic profiles of forerunner gene effects in in vitro and in vivo.
Development of testing novel biomarkers for bladder cancer detection based on the forerunner gene studies.
Lab Management Laboratory management duties including ordering, inventory, monitoring, Lab Inspections and compliance with Environmental Health and Safety and other internal policies.
Animal Maintenance Coordination of procedures involving tissue culture and animal maintenance in the Department of Veterinary Medicine & Surgery involving small animal imaging with the Small Animal Imaging Facility.
Compliance with regulatory for both animal and human-based studies.

PhD in one of the natural sciences or related field or Medical degree With PhD, no experience required. With Medical degree, two years of experience in experimental or scientific work.
