Employment Type: Part time Shift: Rotating Shift Description: This position requires both a Maryland Pharmacy Technician license and a National Certification ( PTCB) unless you are in an accredited pharmacy school. General Summary: Assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing drugs to all patients and areas of the hospital, maintaining the drug inventory, charging and maintaining patient records. Advanced experience and training in the areas of controlled substances, IV admixtures, and handling and preparing cytotoxic drugs. Pharmacy technicians work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist. They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist. Performance demonstrates efforts to improve patient satisfaction, lower costs and improve quality. Supports the Mission of Trinity Health and Holy Cross Hospital. Minimum Licensure/Certification Required (if applicable): National Pharmacy Technician Certification( Pharmacy students actively enrolled in an accredited pharmacy school are exempt) Registration with the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Board of Pharmacy Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Pass math/pharmaceutical calculation test. Nationally certified pharmacy technician. Successful completion of foreign pharmacy graduate examination will be considered equivalent. Preferred: one year of IV admixture and chemotherapy experience. Able to communicate effectively, speak, write and comprehend English. Able to work cooperatively with hospital and pharmacy staff in order to meet objectives. Must be able to handle frequent interruptions and changes in workload and work schedule. Working Conditions: Physical Requirements: Capable of exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Must have auditory acuity. Visual Acuity: Required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Environmental Conditions: The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
