The Food Services Manager provides direct support to the Director of Food Services through the management of the commissary kitchen office and staff. This position plays a major role in bridging all gaps of communication between clients, chefs, staff, and management. Assistant Manager of the Commissary is a multifaceted position that assists with all areas of food production and packaging, as well as, oversight of performance and evaluation of the staff to ensure efficient operation of the commissary.
SUMMARY STATEMENT OF POSITION:
REGULAR TASKS:
- Provides orientation and in-service training, as necessary.
- Creates daily production sheets
- Produces daily service units and meal labels
- Coordinates with other departments to send out monthly nutritional education and OFA and MOW-related information being sent to clients using our meal tray/volunteer delivery service
- handles most of our client inquiries related to dietary needs, changes, complaints, and preferences
- Manages Servtracker system for commissary and updates all client information regarding food preference and diet changes
- Pulls and records meal delivery skips and resumes
- Maintains office files, invoices, and all meal contract production and delivery documentation to accounts receivables.
- Assists Director with all administrative tasks, as needed
- Supports operation of hot production line and assists with production tasks, as needed
- Organizes and updates the production board for chefs, which provides production quantities for all meals
- Assists staff with time off requests and updates office admin calendar
- Assists the Director in developing, coordinating, and enforcing systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standard of commissary staff.
- Responsible for all PayServe approvals and employee updates to Human Resources.
- Supervises volunteer and student workers.
- Oversee employee check in and check out process daily
- Understands the purchasing process and is able to support as needed.
- Collaborate with dietician to create monthly menus.
- Performs closing daily closing walk-through and completes closing checklist and closing frozen meal temperature checks
- Assist Director with special projects and tasks, as needed
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
- Three years (3) experience in food service or an equivalent combination of training, education and experience
- Working knowledge of food safety and sanitation
- Serv Safe Certification
- Exceptional organizational and phone skills
- Ability to handle various tasks in high volume commissary kitchen
- Advanced computer skills and ability learn new program and systems
