What are the responsibilities and job description for the Kennel Assistant position at Mechanicsville Animal Hospital?
We seeking a full-time kennel attendant to provide excellent care to our boarding and hospital patients. This position is for the hours of 11am - 7pm Monday - Friday with rotating weekends (when working a weekend shift, will have off days during the week)
*** MUST BE ABLE TO WORK EVENING SHIFT, WEEKENDS, AND HOLIDAYS
RESPONSIBILITIES: including, but not limited to:
- Feeding and walking animals
- Giving Medication
- Documentation skills
- Cleaning bowls/dishes
- Cleaning all cages, runs, and kennel areas.
- Housekeeping duties like laundry/stocking, taking out trash.
- Sweeping/Mopping Hospital
- Bathing animals
- Performing services like nail trims, anal glands, and vaccinations.
- Assist other employees and clients in a cheerful and respectful manner as a representative of Mechanicsville Animal Hospital.
- Client interactions, admitting and discharging animals.
- Phone and Computer skills
- Must enjoy working with dogs and cats.
REQUIREMENTS: including, but not limited to:
- Healthy, positive attitude
- Team Player
- Able to humanely handle animals under various circumstances.
- Ability to lift 40 lbs and carry 40 lbs bags and boxes.
- Availability to work: morning, evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Experience with handling dogs and cats, willingness to work with different animal personalities.
- Able to read, write, understand, and follow oral and written instructions.
- Able to stand for long periods of time.
