What are the responsibilities and job description for the Special Education Teacher Connections Program position at Medford Public Schools?
Medford Public Schools is seeking a special education teacher with ABA experience for the
Medford Connections program. This position includes case management of students requiring
specialized ABA supports within a small therapeutic learning environment. The program goal is to
provide students with the skill instruction they need to be successful. A strong background in
design and implementation of ABA curriculum is essential to this role.
Responsibilities include:
• Planning and implementing curriculum aligned with Massachusetts Curriculum
Frameworks.
• Maintenance of individual student program books.
• Planning and implementation of discrete trial programming.
• Plans and supervises assignments for paraprofessional staff assigned to the
classroom or to specific students under the teacher’s scope of direct or indirect
supervision.
• Completing Educational Assessments, VBMAPPS, collaborative FBAs, MCAS Alt
portfolios, etc.
• Act as liaison for a caseload of students, to ensure full implementation of student
IEPs, monitor student progress, support student programming, and alert the
Evaluation Team Leader of any need to convene a Team meeting.
• Participation in the development of Individualized Education Programs, Progress
Reports and other formalized documentation requirements.
• Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the
maturity and interests of the students.
• Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student
life and conduct, and, for the classroom, develop reasonable rules for classroom
behavior and procedures, and maintain order in the classroom through
implementation of positive behavioral supports, as well as implementation of
individual student behavior intervention plans.
• Be available to students and parent for education-related purposes outside the
instructional day when required or requested to do so under reasonable terms.
• Meet regularly with the Program BCBA, Evaluation Team Leader and Special
Education Program Coordinator regarding issues and concerns around student
needs.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities consistent with this role/position as
assigned by the Director of Pupil Services, Special Education Coordinator.
