Summary:
The Denver Post, a subsidiary of MediaNews Group, is seeking a Finance Clerk to join our team! This position reports to the finance operations manager and provides accounts payable, company p-card, purchasing, mail and other administrative support for The Denver Post and Prairie Mountain Media. This is a work from home/hybrid position, reporting for work at the office one day per week at minimum.

This position reports to the finance operations manager and provides accounts payable, company p-card, purchasing, mail and other administrative support for The Denver Post and Prairie Mountain Media. What you will do:
- Monitor and manage incoming accounts payable payment requests via email inboxes and USPS mail for both DP and PMM, taking appropriate action
- Process company p-card requests and assist with system training for new cardholders, manage changes for existing cardholders, communicate with cardholders regarding deadlines and adherence to company policies, audit statements for compliance to policies, tracking of sales tax accruals for p-cards that are used primarily for invoice payment
- Pay invoices as required by p-card and reconcile the statement on a weekly basis
- Assist with preparation of monthly accrual journal entry for invoices received that do not post to the current month’s p-card statement to ensure proper expense accounting
- Initiate payment requests via the MNG Shared Services Center (SSC) for invoices that cannot be paid by p-card and monitor the Oracle system queue for invoices posted by the MNG shared services center that need to be processed for payment and routed for approval
- Prepare and submit to the USPS the daily periodical permit mailing reports for mail subscriptions
- Export and upload to a network folder the weekly carrier supply charges from ePMX/Bellwether
- Sort and distribute incoming company mail and process outgoing company mail using a Pitney Bowes mail machine one day a week, alternating with another employee, and filling in on the second day when the other employee is on vacation or out of office
- Assist in preparing or prepare bids for high volume commodities and set up blanket purchase orders to track volumes
- Work with contracted vendors to ensure timeliness of deliveries, quality control and service and, if necessary, work with them to improve performance and provide feedback to the Finance Operations Manager on quality control issues
- Conduct bids with various suppliers to ensure best pricing in order to meet various promotional or other branded item needs throughout the company
- Place orders for common office supplies as needed
- Assist users with Oracle system issues and/or training as needed, deferring to the MNG shared services center or the Helpdesk when appropriate
- Provide notary services for company documents
- Perform various other duties as assigned
What you will bring:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; college degree preferred but not required
- Minimum 2 years work experience in Finance or Accounting environment
- Must be or get certified as a notary
- Knowledge of or experience with company credit cards (p-card)
- Experience with purchase order and inventory systems preferred
- Excellent customer relationship skills
- Knowledge of bid process and general purchasing codes of ethics; general understanding of inventory
- Working knowledge of Google and Microsoft applications with emphasis on use of advanced spreadsheet functions and analysis tools
- Experience with Oracle Finance systems is a plus
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks and priorities; demonstrated time management skills; ability to perform to standards without direct supervision in a remote work environment
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
Benefits and Compensation:
The hourly wage is $18.23 - $23.58. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to geographic location, education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, the Company offers eligible employees a variety of benefits including medical, dental, life and disability insurance, 401k, as well as paid time off and select paid holidays (all benefits are based on eligibility).
