What are the responsibilities and job description for the Ancillary Scheduler (FDC) position at Medical Associates of NWA?
Overview
The Scheduler coordinates Imaging/Radiology department schedules, working with the various departments, and physicians to maintain efficient department workflow. The scheduler also performs various duties associated with routine patient encounters, maintains positive relationships with patients, family members, visitors and fellow employees. Tasks include scheduling appointments for patients and referring physicians; maintains accurate and orderly schedules for departments; obtains and scans in documentation pertinent to the patient's appointment. The scheduler must maintain effective communication with physician offices and ancillary departments in this fast-paced environment.Office hours of the Scheduling Team are Monday-Thursday 11:00am-8:00pm. (w/1 hour lunch)
Friday 8am-5pm

Responsibilities
- Receive and process incoming calls for appointments; be able to handle multi-line telephone/extension numbers
- For patients from outside doctors or MANA clinics, follow appropriate rules for building new patient accounts
- Secure general information from patient for scheduling purposes in computer (e.g. name, date of birth, physical problems/symptoms, convenient appointment times, referring physician's name, etc.)
- Ascertain patient needs, modality availability, and timeliness of exams
- Ensure orders with authorizations are obtained to schedule imaging exams
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- 12 – 18 months related experience and/or training
- Medical office work history required, Imaging scheduling a plus
- Attendance has to be outstanding (will be calling previous employer for reference)
- Team player
- Knowledge of pre-authorizations and/or billing is also a plus
