Job Summary And Qualifications

The essential functions of theUnit Secretaryposition include:

What you will do in this role:

• Treat all patients and families with dignity,respectand appreciation, regardless of their lifestyle, language,religionand culture
• Support and promote an environment that is conducive to quality customer service
• Perform delegated tasks from direct supervisors and departmentleaders
• Respondto patient call light requests; directing and transferring requests as needed toappropriate staff
• Professional telephone etiquette to answer phone calls; directing and transferring calls/messages as needed
• Greet visitors using professional and courteous customer service skills as they arrive; providedirections as needed, answer inquiries and refer to nursing staff/physician/other personnel appropriately
• Maintainpatient charts for new admissions and existing patients
• Maintain patient privacy/confidentiality by adhering to hospital policy andprotecting patient information at all times
• Monitor unit supplies; check stocks regularly,anticipateneeds, place orders as needed, verify receipt of supplies
• Maintain a clean a safe working environment;comply withinfection control policies and protocols;comply withworkplace safety hazards policy
• Contribute to departmental goals andobjectives
• Assistinmaintainingequipment by placing work orders when repair becomes necessary
  
  

What qualifications you will need:

• At least one year of experience in a healthcare or hospital environment preferred
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred
• Strong customer serviceskills arerequiredas incumbent interacts witha patients, visitors,staffand physicians

Our main campus is a Level III Trauma Center. We provide emergency services at our main campus and at Medical City ER Stonebridge. We have cardiovascular and neurological services.
