Phlebotomist
Medical City Lewisville

5:00 AM - 1:30 PM or 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM
Must be able to work weekends!

Position Summary:
To collect and process proper blood specimens by venipuncture, heel stick, and finger stick, demonstrating a professional and knowledgeable technique. Perform various secretarial duties, which include the input of patient demographics and charges into the computer system as well as accurately monitoring collection schedules. Perform other duties to assist the Medical Technologists, as assigned and approved by the Laboratory Manager or the Laboratory Director.

Qualifications

Experience Requirements:

• 
  At least 6 months of phlebotomy experience preferred.
• 
  Experience working with a laboratory computer system, including accessioning of patients and data entry is desirable.
• 
  Ability to work all shifts as required, change priorities frequently, have good infection control skills, know current policies and procedures as they relate to blood collection and blood borne pathogens.
• 
  Must be able to handle stress and work well with the public and the professional staff.
• 
  Can work effectively with all groups.
  

Special Skills:

• 
  Ability to work extended hours when required, be on your feet for long periods and be effective during heavy workloads..
