What are the responsibilities and job description for the Courier (Purchasing) Mon-Fri 8:30 -5:00 position at Medical Clinic of Houston, L.L.P.?
Summary:
Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, daily courier runs to medical practices, the Clinic’s mail service, the bank and other areas as requested. The Courier is responsible for collecting items to be picked up and delivered daily as well as keeping documentation of each request. Under general supervision, he/she transports specimens, medical records, and various other products, as needed.
Primary Responsibilities
- Report directly to the Purchasing Manager.
- Ensures prompt and accurate pickup and delivery of routine and urgent requests.
- Complies with transporting guidelines for medications and specimens; ensures appropriate storage and handling of specimens and/or products during transport.
- Maintains close and effective communication with the Purchasing Department, related to any requests.
- Ensures the Purchasing Coordinator / Supervisor / or Manager is notified, when urgent errand requests are received, which causes a disruption to the routine Courier schedule.
- Ability to adjust schedule, with little to no notice, when required to perform STAT requests.
- Ensures proper handling of confidential information and/or high value documents/items including cash or other sensitive items.
- Deliver linen throughout the Clinic on a daily basis and in a timely manner.
- Collects shred-it materials throughout the Clinic, ensuring contents are protected and secure at all times during the collection process and bins are secure after being opened.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with all Clinic personnel.
- Assists in sorting incoming mail and delivery throughout the facility.
- Assist in answering calls on the Switchboard, when required.
- Maintains a professional, clean, and safe environment for Clinic at all times.
- Comply with the Purchasing Compliance Plan.
- Adhere to the Clinic Code of Compliance, Departmental Policies, and Clinic Policies.
- Adhere to Clinic Safety and Fire Policies.
- Usage and maintenance of personal vehicle.
- Assists in other areas as needed.
Education, Experience, and Knowledge
- Must have a Satisfactory driving record.
- Driving record indicates not more than one moving violation in the past 12 months.
Unsatisfactory (Some examples below)
- Suspended or revoked license.
- Any violations involving drugs, alcohol, controlled substances, etc. within the past 24 months.
- Leaving the scene of an accident within the past 24 months.
- Reckless driving within the past 24 months.
- At fault in an accident resulting in fatality or serious injury within the past five years.
Medical Clinic of Houston, L.L.P. may check the motor vehicle records annually or as needed for all current employees with driving responsibilities or those who use rental cars for business travel purposes. Any covered employee without a valid driver's license will not be allowed to operate a vehicle or drive on Medical Clinic of Houston business. Driving is an essential job function of this position and if the employee cannot be reasonably accommodated, employment may be terminated.
