MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital (NRH) is an award-winning inpatient care hospital located in the heart of Washington, D.C., specializing in treating persons with physical disabilities, including spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, arthritis, amputation, multiple sclerosis, post-polio syndrome, orthopedic, and other neurological conditions.
MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital's Nurse Residency program provides support to new graduates as they transition to professional practice. The program is designed to provide each nurse with the tools necessary to deliver safe, effective, and competent high-quality patient care.
The Nurse Residency program is managed by experienced clinical educators who facilitate both classroom and clinical orientation components. Our dedicated educators provide participants with an exceptional level of individualized attention throughout the residency program.
Our Next Nurse Residency Cohort is scheduled to start February 2024

· Cardiac & Stroke Unit
· Spinal Cord Unit
· Traumatic Brain Injury Unit
Key Responsibilities
The rehabilitation clinical nurse is a key member of the interdisciplinary team to deliver patient-centered rehabilitation nursing services to individuals with a disability and/or chronic illness to attain and maintain maximum function. The rehabilitation clinical nurse assists patients in adapting to an altered lifestyle, while providing a therapeutic environment for client's and their family's development. The rehabilitation clinical nurse designs and implements treatment strategies that are based on scientific nursing theory related to self-care and that promote physical, psychosocial, and spiritual health. Rehabilitation Nurses perform in roles as Teachers, Caregivers, Collaborators and Client Advocates. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, you will add “Life to Years” for the patients you will serve.

Qualifications
· ADN, BSN, MSN, or CNL from an accredited School of Nursing required.
· Prior Clinical Nursing experience preferred.
· Active DC RN License and Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers required.
