What are the responsibilities and job description for the Perforation Turret Operator position at Medtec?
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies.
- Follow SOP’s Work Instructions, Travelers, and other forms of standard work.
- Complete process documentation such as a Travelers (work orders), work instructions,
- Operate equipment in the Thermoplastics department such as extruders, bar and turret perforation machines, shears, clicker presses, and granulators.
- Perform startup and changeover tasks on Extrusion and Perforation equipment.
- Conduct visual inspections of tooling, components, and in-process parts.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and escalate production problems appropriately to Supervisor, Programmer, Engineering, etc.
- Must understand and use good documentation practices and keep accurate records.
- Perform basic preventative maintenance tasks on Extrusion/Perforation equipment and record in the maintenance management system (CMMS).
- Inspect and maintain Extrusion and Perforation tooling. Assembly/ disassembly required.
- Create and maintain an inventory of perforation tool “hot spares” to minimize downtime.
- Manage and maintain the current and future tooling inventories. Coordinate with purchasing and inventory control as appropriate.
- Assist Manufacturing Engineering team to update Work Instructions, Travelers, and other process and technical documentation.
- Assist in the training of operators and technicians.
- Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be able to wear approved PPE such as gloves, safety glasses, work boots, half-mask respirator, etc.
- Must have basic computer skills (familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel)
- Experience with technical writing is preferred.
- Basic shop mathematical skills.
- Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
- Ability and desire to be at work on time and learn new skills.
- Understanding and experience using basic measurement tools such as digital calipers, micrometers, tape measure, etc.
- Requires the ability to read, interpret, and work from engineering drawings, blueprints, TPS specs, and engineering specifications.
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
EDUCATION/ EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or GED
- Previous leadership/training experience is preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience with manufacturing equipment is required.
