CULTURE:
The position provides pharmaceutical care and pharmacy department management in the hospital setting and staffing support in the retail setting. Responsible for the accurate dispensing of prescription medication from the retail pharmacy and supply medications for the secure and proper storage and for their distribution throughout the hospital. Also, to ensure quality and safety of the use of medicines and maintaining records according to state and federal regulations in the hospital setting. Oversees the activities of the pharmacy technicians, coordinates workflow and verifies all medication orders. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age and disease state of the patients being served. Adheres to local, state, and federal laws regarding the profession of pharmacy practice.
ROLE REQUIREMENTS:
- Liaising with the medical staff and nursing staff to ensure the safe, effective, and economic delivery of drug treatment.
- Providing medication reconciliation for patients upon admission and discharge to ensure accurate and current medication lists for patients. Provide patient counseling on new medications upon discharge to guarantee understanding and proper instructions.
- Be knowledgeable in state, federal, and local regulations, to be in compliance with such, in the event of a survey or board inspection in the hospital setting.
- To verify medication orders for appropriateness, to check lab values when necessary, and to suggest changes to the prescribers for the safety of the patient.
- To be the compounding delegate which might include compounding and/or check chemotherapy agents and maintain the compounding areas assuring clean and sanitary rooms in compliance with USP 797 and 800 standards.
- To perform all tasks associated with the hospital pharmacy including, but not limited to, billing, inventory, restocking, computer data entry of drug information, and familiarity of the ADC.
- To be knowledgeable with the 340b program, Macro Helix, and the auditing of 340b eligible patients.
- To assist the retail pharmacy manager with filling in as a staff pharmacist in their absence.

Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM
- Requires pharmacy licensure in the state of practice and a degree in Pharmacy from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
- Pharmacy licensure. Immunization certification and/or licensure (if state requires) in state of practice required within 6 months of hire.
- Sterile compounding certification preferable. Must be able to acquire sterile compounding certification within 3 months of hire date
- Must possess good organizational, problem solving and computer skills. Must possess good written and verbal communication skills for interfacing with all levels of staff, physicians, patients and other contacts. Must be able to use reference tools to evaluate patient care and answer questions posed by patients.
- Must have knowledge of computer software, particularly medication management information system software, and Microsoft applications.
Salary : $125,000 - $165,000
