What are the responsibilities and job description for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) position at Melrose Public Schools?

Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) Qualifications and responsibilities:
  1. Have sound knowledge of learning theory and the applications for positive behavioral interventions. (ex. applied behavioral analysis, behavioral modification strategies, use of visual supports to assist students with self regulation)
  2. Develop behavioral management plans for students at risk that can be implemented in meeting student needs throughout the school day
  3. Develop and organize plans for students with social, emotional and behavioral needs to be implemented by the teachers and other staff
  4. Direct, adjust or develop elements of student instructional and behavioral plans
  5. Provide in class support to students as necessary
  6. Provide direct instruction for both behavior and academics to students in the learning center when necessary
  7. Collect, maintain, and interpret behavioral data
  8. Assess, develop and monitor behavior interventions for students demonstrating behaviors hindering their learning process
  9. Participate in the IEP process as necessary
  10. Member of the building emergency response team, use de-escalation best practices, and skilled crisis prevention and intervention
  11. BCBA Certification required
