PROGRAM COORDINATOR
COMMUNITY SERVICES DIVISION

INTRODUCTION
Pathways is designed to provide a supportive work environment and behavioral adjustment to the work environment. We focus on skills development, community integration and socialization. Pathways will prepare individuals for the challenge of community life and employment so that he/she will become a valued member of the community.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Develop employment that ties the strengths, conditions, and interests of a job candidate or employee to the business needs of an employer. Use job carving, self-employment or entrepreneurial initiatives, or other job development or restructuring strategies that result in job responsibilities being customized and individually negotiated to fit the needs of individuals with a disability.
2. Conduct analysis of job placement and retention services; ensuring benchmarks are being met. Performance Informational Interview with potential employers and shares that information with job development training.
3. Ensure that the individual needs of each person served are being met and the job matches are designed to be successful with appropriate levels of support and supervision. Utilize customized employment techniques to create job opportunities for people with significant disabilities.
4. Partners with Workforce & Business Development Specialist in job and career planning process with individuals served, work with each individual’s team on the screening and recommendation process for job placement.
5. Complete progress notes, daily logs, timesheets, individual planning activities and other documentation thoroughly, accurately and in a timely manner.
6. Explain the benefits of Employee Support Services to employers, including addressing employer’s special needs thereby customizing employment for the individual and matches job skills with applicant qualifications.
7. Represent Melwood and advocates its interests in the community and develops a network of community resources for Employee Support Services.
8. Achieve placement goals developed in cooperation with the Assistant Director, Employee Support Service.
9. Ensure individuals’ fundamental rights (COMAR 10.22.04) and satisfactory conclusion to incident reports in a timely manner.
10. Act as a facilitator at team meetings as needed; arranges interim team meetings as indicated.
11. Adhere to State of Maryland DDA, CARF, DORS and Melwood policies and procedures.
12. Actively participate in management team, interdisciplinary and staff meetings.
13. Adhere to and further the mission of Melwood by creating a supportive environment for participants and staff.
14. Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
The Assistant Director, Employee Support Services supervises the Job Development Coordinator.
PHYSICAL QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to sit 75% of the time; stand/walk 25% of the time; must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull 50 pounds, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach; must be able to speak and hear. Must have good vision, as driving is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
HS diploma and two to three years experience in workforce development and job development required. BA/BS in vocational rehabilitation, social work or related field strongly preferred. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, have knowledge of the principles of “self-determination” and the individual planning process including job development and retention, vocational counseling and behavior supports. Must have past experience in developing employment focused programs for people with disabilities. Must have reliable transportation and be able to travel to and from sites as necessary for work. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications. Must possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record. Must be able to successfully pass a DOT physical.
