General Job Description
The Accountant I prepares and posts recurring journal entries, maintains various reconciliations, and assists in the financial reporting process. In addition, the Accountant I performs a variety of accounting related support duties for the credit union.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain assigned general ledger accounts by researching aged items, partnering with other areas to resolve outstanding balances, and ensuring appropriate supporting documentation is in place
- Prepare and post loan participation entries and confirm ending balances are reflective of supporting documents
- Support the month-end financial reporting process in the areas of prepaids, fixed assets, accruals, and allocations
- Serve as back up for the Accounts Payable position when needed
- Prepare financial reports and schedules including delinquencies, participation summaries, and others as required
- Respond to information requests in support of company initiatives
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in Business/Accounting or equivalent 3-5 years of experience in Business/Accounting
- Provide prompt and professional assistance to members and credit union employees
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and attention to detail
- Possess knowledge of MCCU products and services
SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Strong computer skills including Accounting software and Microsoft Office
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work occasional evening and weekends as needed
- Working knowledge of US GAAP
