Job Summary
The Director of Operations has responsibility for the management of daily operations and all non-physician staff and managers in cooperation with physician stakeholders and senior management.
The Director will also be responsible for enhancing and maintaining operational effectiveness
while emphasizing quality patient care, cost-containment, and a high functioning employee team.
Education and Experience Required
• Bachelor's degree preferably in Business Administration or Finance. Significant and
related experience may be accepted in lieu of bachelor’s degree.
• Minimum of five years supervisory experience in a physician practice or related
ambulatory care organization including responsibility for other managers.
Knowledge and Skills Required
• Demonstrated outcomes in the efficient and cost-effective operations management of a
physician practice or similarly situated ambulatory care organization.
• Ability to proactively identify, evaluate, and monitor operational issues and
recommend/implement measures required to improve performance and efficiency and
ensure effective patient care.
• Financial management and analysis skills, including the ability to assist in the development
of an annual budget and manage areas of responsibility within established parameters and
approved variances.
• Effective human resource skills to recruit, train, evaluate, motivate and retain a high
performing team of non-physicians.
• Overall subject matter knowledge of the key aspects of an effective physician and ancillary
services revenue cycle.
• Information management skills including management experience related to electronic
health records, practice management systems, and partnering with internal and external
information technology resources.
• Knowledge of the principles of all applicable government and private regulations and
guidelines relating to the operation of a physician practice.
• Skill in exercising judgment and discretion in recommending, interpreting, and
implementing policies and procedures.
• Ability to gain consensus and implement initiatives agreed upon by key stakeholders,
particularly physicians, with minimal supervision.
• Skill in organizing work, delegating and achieving desired goals and objectives.
• Detail-oriented, ability to think critically and analytically, and committed to excellence.
• Collaboratively work with cross-functional teams including physicians, senior
management, and employees
