The Company 

We are a nonprofit organization that provides a variety of services throughout Southeast Nebraska for individuals seeking support, wellness and healing. 

The Job 

The Employment Specialist draws upon their professional and, when applicable, personal experiences to support individuals navigating employment-related challenges. This role involves assisting people in identifying career goals, accessing job training, provide support while securing employment, and maintaining long-term workplace success. We prioritize a person-centered, strengths-based approach and value building meaningful, supportive relationships through shared understanding and mutual respect.

While not required, lived experience with mental health, trauma, substance use, or other significant life events can enhance the ability to connect and walk alongside others on their employment journey. The ideal candidate is skilled in collaborating with individuals from all walks of life and committed to fostering inclusive, empowering, and recovery-oriented pathways to employment.

We utilize principles from the Intentional Peer Support framework to cultivate strong connections, community partnerships, and alternative approaches to traditional employment services.

What Will You Do 

  • Work as a member of the HOPE/CARES team to assist with daily program operations and provide Intentional Peer Support to individuals referred and/or seeking services.  
  • Provide education and advocacy as needed so individuals can make informed decisions regarding their own avenues of finding wellness and healing 
  • Maintain confidentiality – Adhere to strict policy of keeping all individual’s information safe by maintaining confidentiality 
  • Provide individualized support as they navigate systems and community resources, keeping trauma informed and person directed approach 
  • Complete all necessary documentation
  • Adhere to all program policies and procedure 


Qualifications 

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skills
  • Exceptional skills in teamwork and adaptability to change
  • Outstanding time management and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and maintain confidentiality while creating meaningful relationships
  • Travel 75% of the day, at home each night 
  • Ability to work independently, but maintain the ability to function as in a team 
  •  Attention to detail 
  • Strong knowledge of community resources 
  • Knowledge of alternative/creative ways of healing and maintaining wellness, including harm reduction approaches  
  • Be open minded to other’s worldviews, methods of coping/healing 
  • Commitment to uphold the mission, vision, and values
  •  Ability to be approved to enter the Department of Corrections.
  • Ability to drive personal vehicle to provide transportation and supports to participants
  • Ability to maintain professional connections with program participants, supervisors, peers, outside resources.
  • Proficient in technology including computers, phones and multiple computer programs including but not limited to outlook, word, and excel
