MHC has an immediate part-time opening (Sunday and Monday; 4:00 pm - 12:00 am) for a Residential Specialist II within the Danbury area. This position will be responsible for documenting and delivering direct services, including Medicaid reimbursable services if applicable, to adult persons in recovery from chronic mental and other co-occurring conditions as outlined in their Individual Recovery Plans to improve their quality of life and maintain the highest possible ability to function in the community.
Pay Rate: $18.25 per hour. This position is eligible for a shift differential of an extra $0.50/hour worked between 4:00 pm - 12:00 am.
Requirements
The Residential Specialist II responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Engage with persons in recovery to assure they participate in programs and activities.
- Document all activities, communications, and encounters with individuals in recovery according to service contract and MHC requirements.
- Teach and assist Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills to maintain a clean and orderly environment.
- Act as a liaison with the individuals' therapists, referral sources, and community agencies.
- Monitor the safety of individuals in recovery in their residences through proper supervision of the sites ensuring the maintenance of safe and healthy facilities.
- Monitor and document the self-administration of medications noting any refusal, resistance, reactions, errors or special conditions. Perform medication runs as needed. Communicate immediate concerns with supervisory staff.
- Develop and design content and objectives for educational and wellness-related group discussions and activities. Encourage participation, coordinate schedule, and gather the materials needed for the discussion or activity. Implement and facilitate ongoing group activities and discussions with program participants.
- May be mandated to remain on site or to report beyond scheduled hours to provide essential coverage.
- Collaborate and maintain cordial relations with DMHAS and other community agencies.
Education and/or Experience:
- GED or High School Diploma required.
- 2 years of related experience and/or a degree in related field, license, certification i.e. Recovery Assistant certificate
- Knowledge of basic counseling skills.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- Valid CT driver’s license required.
