What are the responsibilities and job description for the Program Manager III position at Mercury Systems?

In this role, you have the opportunity to

Reporting to the assigned Program Management Lead, plan and manage a program for the design, development and implementation of the Company's products and services. Monitor the project from initiation through delivery including planning and directing schedules, managing risk, monitoring budget/spending and assigning tasks.

You are responsible for

  • Work with Sales and Capture Leads from various business units to scope and bound a new program. Understand the business needs and market requirements
  • May take lead role on capture and/or proposal efforts, or serve as contributing team member
  • Translate customer requirements to program milestones and deliverables. Create a statement of work that defines technical scope, capability and details of program requirements, customer needs and program deliverables
  • Work with cross functional teams to develop program schedule, risk strategies, and costs
  • Generate the program master plan with the necessary artifacts to support program execution including the milestone billing plan
  • Obtain and manage the necessary cross functional resources required to complete the program
  • Oversee the execution to program requirements to ensure customer commitments for schedules and deliverables are met
  • Manage to quarterly revenue and cash flow goals, and percentage of completion milestones
  • Lead preparation of gate review checklists and packages and support successful gate reviews throughout the product lifecycle
  • Working with the cross functional teams assigned to the program, surface and track all required customer deliverables
  • Communicate with all internal stakeholders (senior management, sales, pre and post-sales support, engineering and operations) to ensure the program's progress and success
  • Serve as primary point of contact for customer communications regarding program execution, deliverables, milestone payments etc.
  • Identify and resolve critical issues, such as product delivery delays, and changes to customer requirements to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Identify out of scope activities and, with appropriate review by management, make recommendations and commitments to the customer. Negotiate additional charges, funding, and/or timeline impacts
To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience

  • 5 - 8 years direct program management experience is required
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Working knowledge of program management techniques and contract accounting
  • Experience in managing $2M - $10M projects/programs
  • Strong analytical ability
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, both written and orally
  • Intermediate knowledge of program scheduling tools, such as MS Project
  • Intermediate level of experience with MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Problem solving skills
  • High level of organization
