Education: College degree preferred but not required. Must have a high school diploma or pass a general educational development test (GED).
In the Residential Assistant, Relief position, you will be responsible for but not limited to the following:
Nights:
- Must be available to work a minimum of 3 shifts per month
- Answer the telephone and direct calls to the proper extension/voice mail, and answer questions
- Pass out incoming mail
- Monitor meal and snack time
- Supervise the residents while doing their nightly details
- Check night and morning work details, and fill out work detail check list
- Distribute residents’ medications and record medications accordingly
- Distribute razors and other sharp personal items to residents
- Monitor residents during free time
- Monitor shower time
- Responsible for making sure the residents are in bed and the lights are out at the appropriate
- Responsible for answering phones during the night
- Unlock kitchen for residents to start meal preparation.
- Responsible for doing a room and bed check to see if all beds are made properly.
- Responsible to discipline residents for inappropriate behaviors and fill out contact sheets, discipline and training opportunity forms
- Must be responsible for safe transportation of residents when needed
Weekends: - Must be available to work a minimum of 3 shifts per month
- Supervise Friday, Saturday and Sunday work details including meals and clean up. This also includes snack time.
- Answer phone calls and take messages
- Report any major problems to Program Director and President; other information will be in the weekend report
- Coordinate residents’ personal phone calls and visits
- Sort mail and distribute to residents
- Disperse medication to the residents as needed
- Transport the residents to special events on the weekend
- Transport the residents to church on Sunday morning
- Check residents out for the weekend visits, if needed
- Fill out necessary form for residents leaving for the weekend
- Discipline residents when needed
- Check work details including the bathroom details
- Pull the phones out for the residents’ incoming calls on Saturday and outgoing calls on Sunday
- Get movies on Friday night/monitor content of movies
- Monitor the residents’ appearance, conduct and conversations
- Resolve any conflict between the residents if they can not resolve it themselves
- Assign an alternate for any work duties previously assigned to a girl that is out for the weekend
- On occasion take residents to the hospital and/or pick up prescriptions from the pharmacy
- Check all interior and exterior doors at night and set the alarm after lights out
- Check rooms after lights out to make sure the residents are obeying the rules
- Check residents’ rooms to make sure all are up and beds are made before breakfast
- Keep the Program Director up-to-date with weekend schedules
- Must be responsible for safe transportation of residents when needed
- Other duties as deemed necessary
Schedule: Hours as needed. Potential hours are:
- Weekend hours: Friday-Monday, 4:30 PM to 8:30 AM
- Night hours: Monday-Thursday, 4:30 PM to 8:30 AM
*Staff is compensated for sleep time.
Compensation: $21.50/hour

Mercy’s Residential counseling Program is voluntary, biblically-based, and helps young women ages 13–32 break free from life-controlling issues and situations, including anxiety, depression, abuse, eating disorders, self-harm, addictions, unplanned pregnancy, and sex trafficking. These residential services are offered free-of-charge. The Mercy Multiplied Center for Wellness and Counseling is Mercy’s free-of-charge Outpatient counseling Program for men and women aged 13 and older. Our Outreach Services train and resource men and women to effectively support and minister to those who are hurting and struggling through workshops, videos, podcasts, discipleship teaching, and other practical resources.
