Meritus Ambulatory Surgery Center conveniently located on the Meritus Health Medical Campus is seeking a dynamic and experienced Ambulatory Surgery Center Manager to lead our dedicated team and ensure the smooth operation of our center. We are multi-specialty ASC providing efficient, high quality surgical service in a professional friendly environment. We are dedicated to delivering exceptional patient experiences and surgical outcomes. The Manager of our ASC will be a Registered Nurse who is responsible for day-to-day oversight of center operations as well as coordinating peri-operative care of the patient.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the ASC, including patient scheduling, pre-operative assessments, surgical procedures, recovery, and discharge.
- Lead and manage a team of healthcare professionals and administrative staff to deliver quality patient care.
- Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to ensure efficient workflows and compliance with industry regulations and standards.
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthetists, nurses, and other stakeholders to promote seamless patient care and optimal surgical outcomes.
- Monitor and optimize resource utilization, including operating rooms, equipment, and staffing, to achieve financial and operational goals.
- Ensure the ASC's compliance with state and federal regulations, accreditation standards (e.g., CMS, AAAHC), and best practices.
- Drive quality improvement initiatives, conduct performance reviews, data analysis, and audits to enhance patient safety and care quality.
- Maintain positive relationships with referring physicians, external partners, and patients to enhance the center's reputation and patient volume.
- Collaborate with the financial department to develop and manage the center's budget, control costs, and maximize revenue.
Education: Registered Nurse with Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Business Management or Healthcare Administration.
Experience: Requires a minimum of 5 years-experience as a Registered Nurse with at least 1 year in an ambulatory/outpatient surgery setting. Requires at least 2 years management experience.
Licensure: Current license to practice as Registered Nurse in the State of Maryland, or if resident of a state that participates in Nurse Multi-State Compact agreement, holds Registered Nurse License from that state that is designated as "Compact" or "Multi-State Privilege" using primary source verification and provides additional documentation as required by the Maryland Board of Nursing. RN License from a compact state with a designation of "Single State" does not meet the requirement and nurse must obtain a Maryland license. BLS and ACLS required.
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of organizational policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
- Knowledge of medical equipment and instruments to effectively administer patient care
- Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
- Skilled in applying and modifying principles, methods and techniques of medicine necessary to provide ongoing patient care
- Skilled in preparing and maintaining records, writing reports and responding to correspondence
- Ability to develop and maintain quality control standards
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic healthcare environment
- Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
