What are the responsibilities and job description for the Cafeteria Manager position at Merrillville Community School Corporation?
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have, or qualify for ServSafe certificate
- Previous supervisory experience preferred.
- Able to read and follow a recipe and convert recipes to larger and/or smaller amounts.
- Prior cooking and baking experience in an institutional atmosphere.
- Past experience cooking using commercial equipment.
- Must have had a demonstrated good attendance record.
- Able to push, pull, or lift items weighing 35 pounds.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Able to read and interpret profit/loss statement and cost out meals including food and labor costs.
- Work with Director of Food Service to maintain food services and records pertaining to the N.S.L.P.
- To use Microsoft Excel, Word and Google Suite computer programs to complete tasks.
- Implement the new U.S.D.A. guidelines and nutritional standards using computers.
- Assist in the cooking and baking of the student lunch meals.
- Maintain a current ServSafe certificate with a score of 85% or better.
- Proven ability to communicate with students, staff, administration and the public.
- Demonstrated positive attitude with administrators, staff, and students.
- Supervise a building’s school food service operation and the assigned cafeteria staff.
- Maintain the Corporation’s high standards of nutrition, food production and service.
- Work with the Director of Food Service and Assistant Food Service Director to maintain the continuity of the N.S.L.P. as it pertains to the elementary school level.
- Work with the Director of Food Service and Assistant Food Service Director to maintain a sanitary work and food environment for the staff, students and administration.
- Generate a weekly food and supply order and maintain proper storage of both.
- Create and maintain weekly and monthly documents as required by the Director of Food Service.
- Train cafeteria employees in the appropriate methods to prepare and distribute food.
- Supervise and help in the preparation of cooking and baking of product.
- Other responsibilities as directed by the Director of Food Service.
