Leadership and Management Accountability (LMA):
- Lead personnel through accountability, career development, coaching, teaching, training, mentoring, and reviews.
- Manage your crew and demand a culture of safety, including adherence to all applicable rules and regulations, training, and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Execution & Quality:
- Be accountable for the execution and quality of work performed by you, your crew, or your subcontractors/suppliers.
- Subcontractors/Suppliers may include services such as:
- Pipe and fittings supply
- Specialty subcontractors for welding or sealing
- Equipment rental
Planning and Scheduling:
- Proactively plan your portion of the work and manage the 3-5 day look-ahead schedule.
- Provide weekend/after-hours coverage as needed or required.
- Own the budget for your section of the project, including labor, materials, and equipment.
- Understand our contract scope of work, manage change orders through the Superintendent and/or Project Manager.
- Manage project logistics during adverse weather conditions.
- Aim to consistently meet or exceed production rates.
Additional Duties:
- Use sound logic and reasoning in decision-making.
- Oversee field personnel on a daily basis.
- Handle personnel issues and escalate through the chain of command as required.
- Report the "pulse" of the workers back to the superintendent and/or Director of Field Operations periodically.
- Plan and execute daily schedules to complete jobs on time and within budget.
- Manage pipeline-specific logistics like pump truck setup, inspections, testing, and clean-up, once arranged by the Superintendent.
- Monitor productivity, compare it against the unit rates from bids, and communicate adjustments to the crew as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, particularly safety protocols.
- Work alongside field employees to complete daily production tasks.
- Complete necessary paperwork and entries into the Time Tracking system.
- Serve as a Lean Change agent.
- Communicate daily with the superintendent.
- Ensure job sites are ready for the next phase, managing any loose ends.
- Focus on solving problems as they arise and lead by example.
- Foster a team atmosphere, ensuring new team members understand their roles and expectations.
- Manage the efficient use of rental equipment and oversee preventative maintenance of equipment as needed.
Physical Demands:
- Engage frequently in lifting and carrying heavy materials, equipment, and tools, often weighing up to 50 pounds or more.
- Endure prolonged periods of standing and walking on uneven surfaces at construction sites.
- Regularly perform bending, kneeling, crouching, and stooping to manage and inspect pipeline installations.
- Engage in repetitive motions related to pipeline construction tasks.
- Use physical strength to push and pull heavy objects and materials.
- Utilize hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity to operate tools and machinery effectively.
- Occasionally climb ladders and scaffolding to access elevated work areas.
- Maintain stamina and endurance to perform physically demanding tasks throughout the workday.
- Keep balance and coordination to navigate construction sites safely and efficiently.
