Performance Pay:

Available annually

New Hire Experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

New Hire Education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

 

 Job Summary:

The Community Engagement Liaison coordinates efforts with school and district personnel, non-profit agencies, faith-based groups, local businesses, the City of Mesa, and other entities to reduce risk factors for students and support their success. This role combines program coordination and clerical support to effectively deliver services and resources that address student needs and community outreach and engagement. This position combines community outreach, engagement, communication, and administrative support to ensure programs, campaigns, and events are executed efficiently and meaningfully. The liaison will work closely with internal and external partners to plan events, distribute resources, manage department records, and ensure smooth day-to-day operations. The liaison assists in the delivery of products, services and resources, address academic and social wellness, and the planning of events to benefit students in grades preschool through 12 and adults.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a liaison between the district, school sites, and community partners to enhance collaboration and engagement.
  • Coordinate logistics for community events, school choice fairs, listening sessions, and outreach campaigns, including preparation, staffing, promotion, and follow-up.
  • Assist with district-led campaigns related to enrollment, attendance, and family engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Communications & Engagement team to collect and share success stories and outreach opportunities through various district platforms.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external partners in the planning and execution of events and delivery of resources for schools
  • Coordinate activities with outside agencies that support student social and emotional wellness
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of resources for schools, parents and the public in topics of food support, behavioral health, job exploration, and other wellness resources
  • Assist with programs and activities to address the needs of the community
  • Maintain records of IVP fingerprints, volunteer paperwork and documentation for the Mercy Care partnership
  • Physically assist in resource deployment to schools, including but not limited to food support, school supplies, health resources, backpacks and other supplies donated by companies and agencies for school or student use
  • Distribute outreach materials such as flyers, newsletters, infographics, and event promotions.
  • Draft correspondence and meeting notes that support communication and documentation of engagement efforts.
  • Respond to inquiries from community members, families, and staff, providing accurate and timely information or directing them to appropriate resources.
  • Maintain databases and documentation related to community contacts, partner organizations, event outcomes, and communication impact.
  • Collect, organize, and report on engagement-related data to inform future efforts.
  • Process requisitions, invoices, purchase orders, and other administrative documents in compliance with district procedures.
  • Monitor and maintain supply inventory; prepare and organize materials for events, meetings, and campaigns.
  • Perform general clerical tasks including filing, data entry, scheduling, and records management to ensure efficient department operations.
  • Assists with other assigned duties as appropriate to the area of assignment and Mesa Public Schools. 

Required Qualifications:

To be eligible for this position, an applicant must meet the following required qualifications. Verification of these required qualifications is necessary.  

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Current or ability to obtain an IVP fingerprint card 

Preferred Qualifications:

It is preferred that the applicant possess the following preferred qualifications; however, the following qualifications are not required to be eligible for this position.  

  • Associate’s degree in human services, public administration, communications or a related field
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (written and spoken)
  • Prior experience in community engagement, communications, or clerical support

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:
