The ideal candidate will ensure that our systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with industry standards.
Job Responsibilities
Reporting to the Manager – Process Engineering, the Automation Engineer will be responsible for the following:
- Develop and implement control strategies for automation systems in mining, concentrator, and pelletizing processes
- Integrate automation systems with existing infrastructure to optimize operations
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for automation systems, ensuring minimal downtime and quick resolution of issues
- Conduct regular maintenance and updates to automation systems to enhance performance and reliability
- Lead and manage automation projects from concept through to implementation and commissioning
- Ensure that all automation systems comply with industry standards, regulations, and safety requirements
- Identifying opportunities for process control improvement and working closely with the team to implement said improvements
- Other duties as assigned
- 3 years experience in automation engineering within concentrator and/or pellet plant operations preferred
- High level of technical expertise in PLC programming and system networking
- Analytical thinker
- Strong PC skills, proficient in MS Office
- Strong communication skills;
- Ability to meet deadlines;
- Strong listening, questioning capabilities
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Strong process analysis skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in automation engineering within the mining, concentrator, and pelletizing industries preferred
- This position will include work both inside and outside an industrial manufacturing plant
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Work activities may include: strength, standing, walking, climbing, sitting, kneeling, stooping, reaching, handling, talking, seeing and crouching
- Adhere to department and company policies
- Work conditions include heat, cold, wet and dry
