The Role

As the Director of Research at Messari, you will lead a team of best-in-class crypto-native analysts responsible for producing insightful, thesis-driven research. This role demands a leader with a deep understanding of the crypto landscape, capable of driving both innovative research initiatives and operational efficiency. Your mandate is to ensure that Messari continues to be recognized as a leader in crypto research, publishing reports that are comprehensive, forward-thinking, and uniquely valuable to our subscribers. You will also play a key role in shaping our research direction and thought leadership, while contributing directly to the content that drives Messari's market impact.

What You'll Do

Content Strategy & Management : Develop and execute a research content strategy that aligns with Messari's vision and mission, ensuring the delivery of unique, insightful, and timely reports. Oversee the content calendar, balancing coverage between deep insights and timely reports.
Lead and Mentor : Foster a culture of excellence by mentoring and coaching analysts, helping them grow into thought leaders while maintaining a collaborative culture.
Contribute Original Research : Regularly contribute your own in-depth reports, offering thought leadership, and leveraging your deep expertise to help shape narratives within the industry.
Drive Revenue and Retention : Drive conversion and product engagement through various channels, including social media, client-facing reports, and thought pieces.
Collaborate Across Teams : Collaborate with product and other research teams to enhance Messari's offerings and incubate new ones.
External Representation : Act as a representative of Messari at industry events, contributing to the firm's thought leadership, and expanding its influence within the crypto community.
Drive Innovation and Growth : Spearhead innovation within the research process, constantly seeking ways to improve the depth and quality of analysis, and leveraging new data and AI tools to maintain Messari's position as a leader in crypto research and drive resource efficiencies.
Team Management : Oversee hiring processes, facilitate individual analyst and team growth, and manage performance through regular feedback and semi-annual reviews.

Who You Are

Experienced Analyst : You have a minimum of 5 years in a research role, with a portion of that spent covering crypto. You bring broad sector knowledge and a nuanced understanding of key trends and emerging narratives within the space.

Thought Leader : Known for being ahead of the curve, your reputation reflects both early insights and accuracy. You are passionate about shaping and predicting industry trends rather than reacting to them.

Exceptional Communicator : With excellent writing and presentation skills, you can distill complex topics into clear, concise, and compelling research reports.

Crypto Native : You are deeply embedded in the crypto ecosystem, understanding on-chain activities and staying up to date with the latest developments. You are considered a crypto insider.

Visionary and Collaborative : You thrive in an environment where learning, debate, and collaboration are key drivers of success. You are dedicated to producing research that not only informs but also helps clients capitalize on market opportunities.

Salary Range : $180,000 - $210,000 equity bonus
